Sock Monkey's
Now who doesn't love sock monkey's? Well I know I do. You can even make it the theme for your baby room. Sorry it's kind of a random thought but it's what I've been thinking about this morning. Another theme I want for a baby room is this cover from Zora Neale Hurston's book "Their Eyes Were Watching God". It's a fabulous book and the cover is amazing. I fell in love with it the moment I saw it. The flowers at the bottom are a metallic copper color, just amazing. I don't know if I would be able to find someone who could do it but I'm going to try.

Thieves
So this past weekend I had my debit card numbers stolen, again. Mind you they didn't actually steal my card just the numbers. You don't know how nerve wracking it is to hear that your numbers have been stolen when your card is still in your wallet. I mean you just used it that morning. This time it didn't throw me as much, I'm just really tired of it. So now I have to ask my husband every time I need money because it's that or credit cards and I would prefer to used money that we actually have. Coupled with my mother's visit it's really just killed my energy. Oh by the way I am so over feeling guilty for what I think of my mother. She violated so many different levels of trust these past 5 days that I really don't want to see her for a VERY long time maybe if ever at all. I just need to read this note next time I feel bad. That woman is something else, and it's not good. At this point I would like to just go sleep for a week. Alas I cannot, and I'm working this Saturday. Yay for extra money.
So last night I finally got to hang out with my friend Stephanie. We met because she works at the Starbucks I go to every morning. We started out by joking back and forth and then she actually got the nerve up and asked me if I wanted to hang out (something I was thinking of doing but hadn't yet because I didn't quite have the nerve). We've made two previous dates to hang out but neither one of us were able to. Ironically we got coffee. :) It was so nice though. We really got to know each other and we have similar life views and life stories. I find it's hard to find people like that so I'm really excited that our paths have crossed. I'm looking forward to being friends for a long time.
Oh and because I like to include pictures here are some new buys from The Carrot Box. Corey, they're having a sale. :)

Mwah, Mwah, Mwah
So my mom is coming into town, today. As those of you who know me know my feelings about this are ambivalence. After all she is my mother, on the other hand I would like to stop wishing that she would truly act like it. She first told me the wrong weekend, then the wrong weekend again. Then the right weekend, sort of. And to top it off she keeps telling me she's going to contact me and then never does and when I call her she swears she did. Like today she was supposed to email me on when she was coming into town (this morning) but nothing. I know what you're thinking, she's forgetful big deal. But there's so much more that I'm not even going to talk about here. I feel guilty for feeling this way about my mom but at the same time there is a history there which is where my feelings come from, right? I just get to a point where I don't even want to deal with it, it's too much stress and needing to intuit her thoughts. Okay I'm done I can't talk about this anymore. I hope everyone is having a good day! Sorry about the venting.

Favorite Moments
I have so many thoughts that go through my head everyday but by the time I get to blogging they all fly out and I feel like sometimes I only talk about stupid crap. But that's just me. Anywho, I just wanted to mention one of my favorite moments that I have everyday. So every morning I stop and get coffee so I can get a paper because I love doing crosswords (if you would have told me four years ago that statement would come out of my mouth I would have thought you were crazy). But my favorite part is leaving the coffee shop with the paper tucked under my arm. I feel like one of those British businessmen from the movies. Or a businessman from the 1950's. I don't know why I get the feeling but I love it. So to anyone who reads this blog what's your favorite moment of the day?

Misfortune or Fortunate?
So this weekend we headed south. Isaac and I were supposed to see Lindsay and Shandon because when we saw them around Christmas we really didn't get to see them for very long. Pretty much to open presents, a quick lunch and half a cup of coffee before we had to head north again. I was really happy to see them on Saturday because we were going to have so much more time to spend with them. I could kind of tell it was coming though. She texted me the night before to say they were having pictures with Shandon's family so they wouldn't be able to see us until 3p.m. so we planned our schedule around that. Well we were getting close and she called me to say that they missed pictures due to bad traffic and when would we be able to see them. I told her around 3p.m. when we had agreed because we still had stuff we had to do first. I think she was kind of put off by that because she at that point started to say that she was tired. I told her to go take a nap because we wouldn't be there for another hour and half and she said that she would try. I then got a text around 2:30p.m. saying she was too tired and had too much homework and that it wasn't going to work out. This frustrated me because I feel like I put myself out there for her. I do have to say in her defense that she has been a lot better lately and I think she has a hard time letting people down. I totally understand that and I know I also have issues of being hurt because there have been so many times she has dropped me like a hot potato for her friends and I don't think that's the case now. Whatevs.
So Isaac and I were close to the beach and decided to make a day out of it. It was a gorgeous day (as evinced by the pictures below) so we walked the beach and had dinner at a restaurant where we know the chef. It was a lovely day over all.

Flood!
So this weekend Isaac and I went for a drive because he had taken some pictures out where he has bees on Friday and some of the road were impassable because they were covered with water. Well on Sunday we had time and I wanted to see it for myself. By the time we went out the water had receded quite a bit and the roads that were previously impassable were now passable. We even got to see the damage that the water had done to Oxbow Farm where we keep some of our bees. We saw Adam who works on the farm and he was taking the damage well. But what else are you going to do? There is so much work for them to do before they can even plant for spring. I want to offer to help but I'm not free for the next couple of weekends and by then it's February. I might anyway and just tell them that. I just feel that they'll have it all taken care of by then.
Attached are pictures that I took with my new camera which came on Saturday. I love it, it was a really good buy. It does what I want and more, it's a very smart little camera.

Cameras
Wow so it's been a while since I've written. What with the snow and the Holidays I've been busy. So I mentioned a little while ago that Isaac and I are going to go see Wicked the musical. Talk about coincidences, Isaac's brother and his brother's wife are going to go see it on the same day we are but the later show. The oddity of it is that Wicked will be in Portland for a month and a half but we both chose the same day.
But anyway, that's not really what I want to talk about. What I really want to talk about is cameras. So a couple of years ago I got a really nice Canon S2si because I really like photography and I know some of the more advanced stuff. I'm not saying I'm a professional by any means though. While it's a great camera it's very bulky and not easy to carry around and quickly pull out for a shot. It's much more methodical than that, and usually by the time I have it ready the shot is already gone. This has frustrated me for a while but I didn't want to go to a point and shoot because they didn't have a lot of the features that the SLR's have. Well no more. I have finally upgraded to a Sony T700 (I got a good deal). Or is it downgraded because it's so much smaller? I haven't gotten it yet and yes I love it for it's aesthetic. But I can do pretty much everything that my SLR does on this one too. Which just amazes me. The only down side is that it only has 8x zoom (I have 12x with the canon) but I move up to 10mpx from 8mpx. Not a big deal in my book.
I started to consider sony's point and shoot camera about a year ago when I saw my little sister's and step mom's and I saw the relative ease with which they used theirs. It made me jealous, after all what good is a camera if you can't take the shots you want? But I am jealous no more (well I won't be when it gets here). I hope everyone had a great holiday. Mine was good except for being snowbound. Snow is lovely except when it hinders you from going places.
