If wishes were fishes...

I'd have a goldfish or two...

Summer has finally arrived. Thank god. I guess I just had to be patient and wait for the actual start of summer. But I'm not always the best with patience. I do have to say that I will be very happily swimming this weekend. Starting Thursday it will be in the 80's which is how I like it. Hopefully I will finally get tan instead of pasty white. But that's the color I am year round so I might not recognize myself if it happens. And I will get to wear my swimsuits that I didn't get to wear all last summer since it never got warm enough. I've tried them on enough though. :)

I hope everyone is having a good summer!

Icky

So I haven't written lately because I've been sick. First I thought I had allergies but now I realize that I not only have allergies but also a cold. It's really fun when my nose burns because I have to sneeze and I'm lightheaded from the medicine, at the very least it's an interesting sensation.

I am finally back to lazy weekends, which I don't necessarily like. It's and odd dicotomy that I have where I have the need to be around people but I also like to be by myself, plenty. It puts me into this pattern of too much and not enough, I'm still trying to figure it out. It's weird how you can be an adult but still feel unsure. It puts my childhood view of adults in total perspective. Why did I always seem to think that they knew it all, when I'm still just learning. I feel like I'm missing out on something big but I just have to remind myself that my life is what I make it. I can make myself feel like I am missing out on something that I need or I can be in that exact moment of my life and really realize what I am living. I go into a bit of both, I guess it just depends on my mood. Life comes in waves, and you just need to really live the biggest moments. It gives you something to lift your spirits in your lower moments.

I'm going to finish dishes now (which Isaac said he would do) and then curl up on the couch and wait for my cold to go away.

things I forgot

So who wants to know what you get when you mix money and coffee? (it's not soggy money)
It this!

This is about the strangest combo of businesses I can think of that I've seen.

As a side note, is anyone else listening to Priscilla Ahn and thinking she's pretty fantastic?

I think I have a problem...

First off I would like to apologize to Brycie for making fun of his Havaiana sandals because I am now pretty infatuated with them. I have to say they have too many cute pairs for girls and I have a weakness for shoes. This makes a very poor combination. They also sucker punched me because they went ahead and made a honeycomb/bee one, this I think is totally unfair. It's like pink for five year old girls, or meth, I think they're one and the same. Just kidding. It's so bad I even bought a pair made for guys. Here are the different kinds.

Last night I went on a swarm call with Isaac because we really haven't had the ability to spend time together this weekend. I spent all Saturday with Mel and met the adorable six week old Keller. We had a lot of fun and Keller was a real trooper, even if he is a pirate. ;) And then Isaac had to work Sunday all day, so we really only had last night together. My only issue was dealing with the bees in an enclosed car when Isaac thought that he had gotten them off and they seemed to keep multiplying. I was stung by a wasp once and I would prefer to not relive that experience if I don't have to. It was nice to spend such a sunny warm evening with my husband, even if I was a little freaked out by loose bees.

Stranger than Fiction

So this was the headline on the Seattle Times yesterday morning. Maybe my crabbiness was justified.

And for all the little girls out there (and the ones in our hearts), they really do exist! His name is Unicorn, how fitting.
I hope everyone has a good day!

Organization

So apparently it is now snowing in Washington... I am trying to have a positive outlook because I have been crabby about it lately and there is nothing I can do to change it. Also my house is clean and I saw Kungfu Panda, both which helped improved my mood, and I slept so that probably helped more than the afore mentioned. I'll just keep buying cute summer clothes and not have the ability to wear them.

I'm trying to implement a new organization system for my junk mail, no not the current one where it ends up piled on the floor in the back room, or the other one where it takes over the whole entire dining room table. I need to go to Office Depot or anyone of those stores to get the rest and (fingers crossed) hopefully it will work. Isaac and I went to Ikea this weekend and bought a side table. On which we are going to have stacking baskets for what mail we keep and their priority. Next to the table we are going to have a shredder so we can get rid of all junk the moment it hits the house. Hopefully the convenience will help this work. Here's a picture of the new table.

Winter Wonderland

Sleigh bells ring, are you listening,
In the lane snow is glistening...

Ah, winter, it's so nice to welcome in the holiday season. I love hot chocolate, roaring fires and snow ball fights... What is that? You say it's June!? How can it be so when it's 55 degrees out, down pouring in the valleys and snowing in the foothills? Okay, I know I'm crabby about the weather but come on!! I think all that I'm going to do this weekend is sleep, read and clean my house. Cleaning will make me happier because at least I'll see some progress there instead waiting for the sun to come out. Maybe I'll go see Kungfu Panda.... Okay, so maybe this weekend won't be a total wash out. Does anyone have any ideas to help take my mind off the crappy weather?

I found a great new artist Brendan James and his album The Day is Brave. It's fantastic and he has a voice that can really reach into you. Maybe check that out. Oh and if anyone wants a great salad recipe just ask me.

thoughts and (small) freak outs

So I got my first gray hair today, and apparently I am finding it a little traumatic. I guess that ties me more to my family name but I thought I would at least be in my late 30's early 40's before it happened. As soon as I spotted it I yanked it out later to have some coworkers tell me that all that's going to do is make more sprout. (They're also the ones that told me a bird crapping on me was good luck.) Great, exactly what I wanted but I don't think it's true. So either I'm living in denial or I'm right, only time will tell.

I have to say that while I like the wii fit I'm a little disappointed. I have to say that my "workouts" with it are pretty easy and I work way harder at the gym. I guess I didn't realize how out of shape America is since I keep reading all these reviews from people saying that they got a great work out when I barely break a sweat. I also don't like that it puts me right on the border between overweight and obese when I'm about as far from that as possible and then it goes and makes my mii fat. I'm trying to get over it...

Some random things I've noticed lately are that our safe at work smells like my dad's house so I find it oddly comforting whenever I get in there, and this morning I heard the Wood Brothers being played at my local coffee shop. It took me a moment to realize who they were playing because they're not very well known and I didn't think I would ever hear then being played somewhere commercial like that. Thanks Mel for introducing me to them.

humdrum

So even though it's June (spring/almost summer) is playing a cruel joke and pretending that it's winter. I know to some people rain and 50 some odd degrees would be a welcome break but when it barely reaches over 65 and partly sunny, it's kind of depressing. I miss summer, I want to go swimming and sleep in my bed with fewer covers (4) than I do now which is still in winter mode. I have been thinking today about a picture that I took last spring since summer has been on my mind.
However, on a lighter note Isaac and I went to a wedding this weekend (that was interesting, and if you know Longview, kinda redneck) which his best friend Tasha was also attending so it was nice to see her and meet her boyfriend Aaron for the first time. We all went out bowling afterwards and had a really good time until the wee hours of the morning. I also got to paint my toe nails with Isaac's grandma so that was bonding time. I used his mom's toe nail polish that changes colors depending how warm or cold you are. I know, the little pleasures in life. I did manage to botch it though. Can someone please tell me why even when you wait three hours nail polish still isn't dry? Oh well, it's hard to tell unless you are right next to my feet and I'm not worried about a lot of people getting that close.

And just incase you're curious here's what I look like today. For some odd reason I find this fascinating, kind of like the people that take pictures of themselves for an entire year to see how they change.
